UB Statement on Visit of Vice President Kamala Harris

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi released the following statement regarding Wednesday’s visit to UB by Vice President Kamala Harris, who will deliver a keynote address on climate and energy investments in the under the Inflation Reduction Act:

“We are deeply honored to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris to the University at Buffalo and to have the opportunity to showcase the impactful ways in which we harness the triune mission of research, education, and engagement of UB to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change by developing innovative solutions for a sustainable world.

“From our disciplinary and multidisciplinary scholarship in materials science, water systems, greenhouse gases, ice caps, and food systems, to our cutting-edge academic programs in areas such as leadership in sustainability and materials design, to the significant progress we have made in achieving carbon neutrality on campus by 2030, UB is a nationally and internationally recognized and ranked higher education leader in the sustainability research and practice.

“As Vice President Harris’ visit to UB coincides with the start of our academic year, it will surely generate a lot of positive energy during an already exciting time on campus.
